Katie Morita is a designer, businesswoman and founder of Mocha Projects.
A designer by trade, Katie is a unique force in the fashion industry. Melding creativity with an instinctive business savvy, Katie has an innate ability to realize her clients’ vision, developing a process and product tailored to achieve company goals. Founded in 2006 in response to an evolving fashion industry, Mocha Projects was born from Katie’s desire to help brands realize opportunities for growth.
In her current role, Katie has designed, developed and curated successful collections for the fashion and home industries; including product launches and store openings for international brands; Calvin Klein, Uniqlo, Gap, LeSportsac, and Stearns & Foster, to runway product for Tory Burch, Helmut Lang, Marissa Webb and Gabriela Hearst.
In the past decade, Katie has been focused on the social and environmental impact of the design industry and her recent projects have partnered her with brands and artisans with purpose including Athleta, the Catrinka Project, FEED Projects, KAZI, NEST, and Bottletop.
Prior to launching Mocha Projects in 2006, Katie designed accessories for companies including kate spade, Calvin Klein and Coach.
Katie has also renovated and reimagined interiors for two homes in Montclair, NJ.
